Core Abilities

Harrier
Valor periodically marks an enemy with Harrier, the mark renamed from Vulnerable in patch 26.11. Quinn's first basic attack on the marked target deals bonus physical damage: every trade starts here.
Blinding Assault
Blinding Assault
Skillshot that Nearsights the first champion hit for 1.75s, cutting their sight radius to 350 units. Non-champions are Disarmed instead: champions keep swinging, so you still have to walk out.
Heightened Senses
Heightened Senses
Passive: attacking a Harrier target grants 28-80% Attack Speed and 20-40% Move Speed by rank for 2s. Active: Valor reveals a large nearby area, so scout brushes before a roam or a gank.
Vault
Vault
Dash to an enemy, slow them, then leap off and land at attack range. Both gap-closer and escape — also briefly interrupts the target mid-channel or mid-dash.
Behind Enemy Lines
Behind Enemy Lines
Out of combat, Quinn flies at huge movement speed. Ending the ability casts Skystrike: damage in an area below + Vulnerable mark on champions hit.

Why these runes

Quinn chains Vault, Harrier auto and Blinding Assault inside 3s, triggering Electrocute every combo. Sudden Impact adds 20-80 true damage on the first hit after Vault or R. Grisly Mementos is trinket haste, not ability haste. Treasure Hunter turns R-roam kills into gold.

Why secondary

Sorcery secondary: Absolute Focus grants bonus AD above 70% HP — Quinn's hit-and-run lane keeps her over that line because Vault disengages before her HP collapses. Gathering Storm guarantees scaling AD if the game drags past 25 minutes.

When to switch secondary

Against heavy harass lanes (Teemo, Vayne, Gnar) swap Sorcery to Resolve with Second Wind (after a champion damages you, heal 4% of missing health over 10s) and Overgrowth (bonus max health as minions die near you). Trades damage for early survivability.

Win Condition

Bully an immobile melee top with quick auto-Q-auto trades, then use Behind Enemy Lines from level 6 to roam bot or mid for free kills before enemy laners have R or Flash up.

Weakness

Falls off in teamfights without sidelane pressure. Hard-countered by ranged scalers (Vayne, Kayle, Kennen) and self-peel duelists (Fiora, Jax, Camille) who answer her primary tools.

Overview

Quinn is a ranged top laner who weaponizes blind, mobility, and a teleport-tier roaming ultimate. Her kit revolves around Harrier, the passive mark Valor periodically lands on a nearby enemy: every Quinn trade pattern starts with hitting that marked auto-attack for bonus damage, then chaining Blinding Assault (Q) to deny the enemy's auto-attacks before they swing back. She has no built-in scaling like a marksman or a juggernaut — her power lives in moment-to-moment trade efficiency (the short HP-for-HP skirmishes in lane) and in Behind Enemy Lines (R), which turns her into the fastest-roaming top laner in the game (a top laner who can leave her lane to help mid or bot for free kills).

Her game plan is to win the lane against an immobile melee bruiser, push the wave on her ranged advantage, then fly to bot or mid the moment R is up. Skill expression sits in Vault (E) timing — you can dash in to interrupt a dash, channel, or windup, or dash out to escape a gank — and in reading when to commit R as a cross-map kill versus when to stay top and shove a winning lane (push the wave hard so it crashes into their tower).

Recommended Build

Starting items: Doran's Blade Doran's Blade + Health Potion Health Potion. Against ranged top lanes (Teemo, Gnar, Kennen) swap to Doran's Shield Doran's Shield to survive the harass.

Core items (in order):

  1. Profane Hydra Profane Hydra — 2850 gold for 55 AD, 18 lethality and 10 ability haste. Cleave splashes on every basic attack, but only for 20% AD on a ranged champion against 40% on a melee one. Heretical Cleave is a flat 10-second active with no takedown refund: treat it as a rotation cooldown you spend once per fight, not as a reset you can chain.
  2. Berserker's Greaves Berserker's Greaves — Attack Speed (auto-attack speed, the rate at which you swing) for the Harrier proc + Q + auto-attack combo to clear waves in one rotation.
  3. The Collector The Collector — execute under 5% HP. Cleans up after your R Skystrike + auto-attack combo when a runaway target would otherwise survive on slivers.
  4. Edge of Night Edge of Night — spell shield (one-time absorb against the next ability). Blocks the first CC (crowd control: stun, root, knockup) on R landing, which is your most vulnerable frame.
  5. Infinity Edge Infinity Edge — crit damage spike. Lets your R Skystrike + autos burst (high damage in a short window) one-shot a squishy carry.

Situational items:

  • Lord Dominik's Regards Lord Dominik's Regards — vs enemy teams with two or more stacked-HP frontliners (Cho'Gath, Sion, tank Mundo). Percent-HP damage shreds armor stacks faster than flat lethality.
  • Bloodthirster Bloodthirster — vs sustained-damage compositions (Vayne, Kayle, Kog'Maw). Lifesteal (heal from your damage) + an overcap shield (extra HP-like buffer once lifesteal is maxed) buy the extended trade window your kit otherwise lacks.
  • Guardian Angel Guardian Angel — vs assassin-stacked teams (Zed, Talon, Kha'Zix). Revive saves your R commit on the second carry (the enemy's main damage dealer).
  • Serylda's Grudge Serylda's Grudge — when you need armor pen and a finisher: the 30% slow on your abilities only lands on targets already below 50% health, so it closes kills.

Boots: Berserker's Greaves Berserker's Greaves is default for Attack Speed. Boots of Swiftness Boots of Swiftness is a niche pick into heavy-slow comps (Anivia, Ashe support, Nasus W).

Skill order: Max Q first (lane bully, AOE waveclear meaning area damage that hits multiple minions, longest blind duration), E second (more damage per dash + lower cooldown), W last. Take a point in R at levels 6, 11, 16. W at level 3 is non-negotiable: the Attack Speed + Movement Speed passive on Vulnerable targets is what makes your second auto-attack-after-Harrier land in time.

Runes: Primary Domination with Electrocute, Sudden Impact, Grisly Mementos, Treasure Hunter. Secondary Sorcery with Absolute Focus and Gathering Storm. Stat shards: Attack Speed / Adaptive Force / Health Scaling.

Pick into / Counterpicks

Draft-level matchups: when this pick shines and which champions are picked against it. Mechanical reasoning, not winrate.

Champions Quinn beats

  • Bleed-stacking grab juggernaut

Darius has no dash — Blinding Assault denies the autos that stack Hemorrhage bleed for his win condition, and Vault leaves Apprehend pull range before he engages. Decimate sweet-spot heal cannot proc through the blind.

    Darius
  • Spinning silence juggernaut top laner

Garen has no dash — Blinding Assault denies the autos that scale Judgment spin damage, and Vault leaves Decisive Strike silence-slow range before he engages. Perseverance passive HP regen requires standing still out of combat.

    Garen
  • Frontline melee bruiser without dash

Sett has no dash. Blinding Assault Nearsights him for 1.75s, cutting his sight radius to 350 units so he cannot track you, and Vault leaves Facebreaker range before he commits. His autos are not blinded: you win by stepping out of the Knuckle Down window, not by tanking it.

    Sett
  • HP-stacking cleaver juggernaut top

Mundo has no dash — Blinding Assault denies the autos that fuel Heart Zapper passive damage and Goes Where He Pleases tenacity loop. Vault leaves Infected Bonesaw slow chain range before he engages, and Heightened Senses speed kites him out of Blunt Force Trauma swing damage.

    Dr Mundo
  • Stack-scaling Q juggernaut top laner

Nasus has no dash — Blinding Assault denies him the autos and the Siphoning Strike Q stack on the killing blow, breaking his entire farm scaling pattern. Vault leaves Wither slow range before he engages, and Heightened Senses speed kites him out of Spirit Fire AoE chip damage.

    Nasus

Champions that beat Quinn

  • True-damage tumble ADC top

Vayne's Silver Bolts shred Quinn's HP with true damage that armor does not reduce, and from two items on she out-damages Quinn in any extended trade. Condemn knocks Quinn into a wall for a long stun, cancelling the Vault retreat that her whole trade pattern is built on.

    Vayne
  • Late-scaling ranged ascending top laner

Kayle's Divine Judgment makes an ally invulnerable for the whole of Quinn's Behind Enemy Lines burst window, wiping the kill. From level 11 Kayle's ranged autos out-range Quinn, chipping Quinn from a range where Harrier never pays off.

    Kayle
  • Mark-stacking ranged shuriken top

Kennen's Slicing Maelstrom AoE stuns Quinn on R landing, cancelling her Behind Enemy Lines ult commit before she can burst. Lightning Rush phase-walks through Quinn's Vault retreat path, and Thundering Shuriken pokes her at long range outside Harrier auto proc setup.

    Kennen
  • Parry duelist top laner

Fiora's Riposte parries Blinding Assault and stuns Quinn mid-cast, cancelling her only anti-melee tool. Duelist's Dance Vitals refresh every few seconds and deal true damage her thin HP pool cannot absorb, so every second near Fiora costs more than the trade is worth.

    Fiora
  • Counter-strike dodge duelist top

Jax's Counter Strike turns Quinn's Electrocute auto chain into a stored stun back at her, cancelling the trade. Empower true damage on the next auto bypasses her squishy HP, and Grandmaster-at-Arms passive on-three-hit lockdown out-trades Heightened Senses kite during the stun.

    Jax

Key matchups

  • Darius: Trade on Q cooldown. When he walks up to land Apprehend (E) the pull, Vault out the instant he commits — his Q outer blade tags only if you let him land it. Never trade inside his bleed-stack reset window (he wants 5 stacks for the empowered finish).
  • Riven: Hard matchup pre-6. Her Q3 knockup + W stun chain bursts you before Heightened Senses can kite (move while attacking to keep distance). Hug minions, save E for her Q3 wind-up; do not contest before level 6. Post-6 you can R-roam away from her zone.
  • Fiora: Watch for Riposte (W). Never throw a naked Q when her W is up — she parries the blind and the stun comes back at you. Trade auto-Harrier-auto and walk out before she lands her 4 vital markers (Fiora's passive that buffs her next basic attack).
  • Renekton: Even pre-6, your favor post-6. His level 2 W stun + Q heal chunks you if you sit in melee range, but you out-roam him hard. Push waves, fly bot for kills before his ulti is up.
  • Camille: Bait her Hookshot (E) by hugging the side of the lane with no terrain for her to stun you on. Once her E is on cooldown you have a 16-second window to all-in (commit fully to a kill attempt) or shove.

Power spikes & win conditions

  • Level 2: With Q + E you have everything for a short trade — Vault in, Q the empowered auto path, walk out. Most melee tops cannot answer the first two levels.
  • Level 6: Behind Enemy Lines unlocks the roam game (moving from lane to help other lanes). Plan your first R the second it is up — push the wave to the enemy tower, fly bot or mid as a fifth attacker.
  • Profane Hydra Profane Hydra completion (~ minute 11-13): The active resets on takedowns. Stack one kill from R, recast the active, dash again with Vault, and you can flip 1v2 dives that would otherwise be deaths.
  • Infinity Edge Infinity Edge online (~ minute 28-30): Your R-Skystrike + auto-auto burst one-shots any squishy (low-defense damage dealers like ADCs) without a Magic Resist or armor item. Force objectives now.

Common mistakes

  • Throwing Q at full range without Harrier setup. Naked Blinding Assault is just a slow nearsight. Wait for Valor to mark the enemy, E-dash in, auto, Q the path they walk through, auto again — that is the trade that wins lane.
  • Holding R for "the perfect roam". Use it on cooldown. A bot lane that flashed before your R lands is still a flashed bot lane — you forced a summoner spell out, freed your jungler's bot side, and lost nothing.
  • R-landing into team fights without vision. Behind Enemy Lines does not break on damage: a hit from a non-minion only strips the move speed for 3 seconds, while a stun, a ground or a silence ends it outright. Skystrike into an unwarded brush and it is their crowd control, not their chip damage, that kills the play. Drop a control ward first, or fly to a wave and walk in.
  • Auto-piloting Profane Hydra usage. The active resets on takedowns. In team fights, cast Hydra → Skystrike → auto, and the active is back the moment the first squishy drops. Don't burn it on a wave when a kill is queued.
  • Sticking top after 11 minutes. Quinn's worst position is a 1v1 in the side lane against a scaling bruiser at 3 items. Roam, take Voidgrubs (three of them, once per game, at 8:00 in the Baron pit; each kill gives the whole team a Touch of the Void stack that adds damage against enemy structures) with the jungler, group for the first Drake — her macro (her impact across the whole map, not just her lane) is global, not local.

Advanced tip

Vault interrupts dashes and channels for a brief moment on contact. The high-value targets to E-cancel are: Katarina's Shunpo (E), Master Yi's Alpha Strike (Q), Yasuo's Sweeping Blade (E) chain, and Fiora's Lunge (Q) vital. Practice in custom games against bots: walk forward, watch the enemy commit, dash on the exact frame their cast bar fills. A clean E-cancel turns Quinn from "ranged trade champion" into "answer to anything that wants to commit on you".
