Electrocute procs on the W + AA + Q gank combo for flat burst. Sudden Impact gives 20-80 true damage the moment dashes end. Ultimate Hunter (over Treasure Hunter for jungle) shaves seconds off the R cooldown, and those seconds add up to one extra gank window per side of the map.
Precision secondary: Presence of Mind refunds energy and adds ultimate haste each takedown, stacking on top of Ultimate Hunter for a near-permanent R uptime in skirmishes. Last Stand boosts damage when you drop under 60% HP — exactly where you land after diving an enemy carry.
For safer farming and a slower start (recommended on your first few games), swap Precision for Inspiration with Magical Footwear (free boots at minute 12) and Cosmic Insight (extra item and summoner haste); you trade kill pressure for a cheaper clear.
Win Condition
Move faster than the enemy jungler with brush vaults from Terrashape into ganks; chain R-wall stuns to assassinate priority targets in skirmishes from minute 6 onward.
Weakness
Weak first clear unless a laner helps you start it; with no ranged clear she cannot escape a Lee Sin or Graves invade. With no terrain at the gank spot her Q is not empowered, so her damage and her stun both drop.
Overview
Qiyana jungle is built on speed of rotation, not on farm: she turns the river and the side bushes into highways. Her Terrashape (W) dash picks up the closest terrain element and grants a brief move speed boost on brush, which means she can chain camp-to-gank rotations faster than most junglers — at the cost of a fragile first clear and zero ranged poke for safe camps. The trade-off is on purpose: you give up early stability to gain mid-game pick pressure that snowballs the side lanes.
Her game plan is simple: clear three camps without dying, look for a level 3 gank from a brush flank, and unlock Supreme Display of Talent (R) at level 6 to start picking off carries against jungle walls. Once Profane Hydra is online she clears at full speed and can steal camps from the enemy jungle while threatening picks across the map. The skill curve sits in two places: knowing where the gank-side terrain element is before you commit, and timing R so the wall behind the target is as long as possible — short walls give a 0.5 second stun, long walls give 1.5 seconds, the difference between an escape and a kill.
Recommended Build
Starting items:
Gustwalker Hatchling (450g) + 1
Health Potion (50g). That is the full 500 gold you start with; the
Refillable Potion is a first-back purchase, not a start. Gustwalker Hatchling is the melee jungle starter (it gives Smite-on-camp damage) and the Health Potion sustains your first clear.
Core items (in order):
Gustwalker Hatchling — pet companion (auto-evolves around minute 3-4 once you have cleared enough camps). The AD-skirmisher pet adds out-of-combat sprint, useful for chasing ganks across the map. The right pet companion for an AD skirmisher: it gives extra movement speed in brush and out-of-combat — straight value on every brush vault you do.
Profane Hydra — first full item. The cleave speeds up your camp clears, which matters because Qiyana has no way to damage a camp from range; the active then adds a short-range finisher that pairs with the R detonation in skirmishes.
Ionian Boots of Lucidity — ability haste lets you spam W between ganks and shaves seconds off your R between objective fights.
Edge of Night — the spell shield (a barrier that blocks the next damaging ability) is the single most important item in your build. It eats a Lux Q, a Morgana Q, an Ahri E charm, or an enemy jungler's hard CC before you commit your dash chain.
Voltaic Cyclosword — the proc slows the target for 1 second on a charged auto-attack, which extends your R stun setup window when you cannot get to a wall fast.
Situational items:
Hubris — vs squishy enemy team. AD stacking on takedowns turns a single gank kill into a snowball that one-shots the backline.
Serylda's Grudge — vs tank-stacking comps (Ornn, Sion, Zac). Armor penetration plus a slow on damaging abilities lets you cut through HP bars instead of bouncing off.
Maw of Malmortius — vs heavy magic damage (enemy mid + support both AP, e.g. Brand support + Syndra mid). The magic shield pops on the burst window and saves you from a one-shot combo.
Guardian Angel — late-game insurance when you are the carry. A second life after each gank or skirmish commit lets you all-in without fear of focus.
Boots: Ionian Boots of Lucidity by default. Swap to
Plated Steelcaps vs heavy auto-attack teams (3+ marksmen or on-hit melee like Master Yi top), or
Mercury's Treads vs hard crowd control teams (2+ stuns or charms on short cooldowns).
Skill order: Max Q first (clear speed plus main damage), E second (lower cooldown means more gank engages per minute), W last. Take a point in R at levels 6, 11, 16.
Runes: Primary Domination with Electrocute, Sudden Impact, Grisly Mementos, Ultimate Hunter. Secondary Precision with Presence of Mind and Last Stand.
Pick into / Counterpicks
Draft-level matchups: when this pick shines and which champions are picked against it. Mechanical reasoning, not winrate.
Champions Qiyana beats
Immobile zone-control AP mage jungler
Karthus has zero dash and zero blink — Qiyana's Terrashape brush vault counter-ganks faster than he can react, and Audacity dash plus rock-empowered Edge of Ixtal wall-stun bursts him before Death Defied passive triggers.
KarthusMark-stacking ranged auto jungler
Kindred's lamb form has only Lamb's Respite R as a panic button — bait it pre-fight and her survival window collapses. The Supreme Display of Talent wall stun catches her mid-repositioning, so the three Dance of Arrows dashes buy her nothing.
KindredBandage-pull AoE stun tank jungler
Amumu's Bandage Toss is a slow projectile Qiyana sidesteps with W brush stealth. Curse of the Sad Mummy channel is interrupted by rock-empowered Edge of Ixtal wall-stun, denying the multi-target stun setup, and R-stuns through his cast frame deny the entire teamfight setup.
AmumuStealth ambush AP jungler
Fiddlesticks's Crowstorm is a 1.5-second channel — predictable from the visible casting animation. Qiyana stealths through the brush with W during the windup, lands Audacity on him mid-channel, and the Crowstorm never goes off.
FiddlesticksEngage junglers with telegraphed combo
Qiyana's Terrashape (W) brush vault sidesteps J4's Cataclysm (R) arena trap and Demacian Standard (E) flag-toss combo; Edge of Ixtal (Q) rock-stun bursts him out of his own R before Dragon Strike (E-Q) pull connects on her.
Jarvan Iv
Champions that beat Qiyana
True-form on-hit skirmisher jungler
Bel'Veth's Royal Maelstrom is a channeled AoE that shreds Qiyana during the dueling exchange Audacity commits to. The Above and Below knock-up interrupts her before the rock-empowered Edge of Ixtal can pin anyone against a wall.
Bel VethSonic Wave gap-close fighter jungler
Lee Sin's Sonic Wave into Resonating Strike Q-recast gap-closes onto Qiyana during her W brush stealth approach, breaking her engage angle. Tempest into Cripple slows her, and Dragon's Rage then kicks her away from the wall she needed for the rock-empowered stun.
Lee SinShadow-leap AD assassin jungler
Nocturne's Shroud of Darkness spell shield eats Audacity's impact damage entirely, denying Qiyana her gap-close engage. Paranoia blacks out her vision and lands a target-locked dash on her before she can reach a brush and stealth away with W.
NocturneWall-dashing transforming bruiser jungler
Kayn's Shadow Step terrain-walks through walls, outpacing Qiyana's brush vault repositioning so she cannot pre-stealth a counter-gank. In Rhaast form his life steal out-sustains her burst from the mid game onward, so trading with him stops being an option.
KaynBuckshot Quickdraw-dash AD carry jungler
Graves's Smoke Screen blinds Qiyana's empowered Royal Privilege passive auto proc, denying her trade burst window. The Quickdraw dash and the End of the Line cone out-trade her brush approach before Audacity even lands.
Graves
Key matchups
- Bel'Veth: Avoid 1v1 in her jungle past minute 6. Her Royal Maelstrom out-sustains your burst window. Take camps from her side only with a teammate flanking; in skirmishes wait for her W channel to end before you commit Audacity.
- Lee Sin: Stronger early invader. Don't full-clear without ward on red side; if he lands his Q, expect his second-cast Q to chase you into your camp. Save W brush stealth for the dash escape, never for the gank pre-6 unless you have a teammate visible nearby.
- Master Yi: Race to
Profane Hydra. He outscales you 1v1 after his second item, so your ganks have to convert before minute 14. Camp his side lanes early. - Amumu: You decide when this fight happens. His Bandage Toss is slow and predictable; you can W-stealth-engage from a brush flank, dodge his Q, and assassinate him before his R finishes its cast frame.
- Graves: Bad invade matchup. His Smoke Screen blinds you mid-engage, denying your auto-attack passive proc. Don't contest scuttle 1v1 pre-6; play around your laners' priority instead.
Power spikes & win conditions
- Level 3: First gank window. With Q + E + W, you can W-stealth from a side brush, E onto the laner, and Q-rock-stun them against the wall — almost a guaranteed kill if the laner has Flash down.
- Level 6: First Supreme Display of Talent unlocks the assassination combo. With a wall behind a squishy target, E-Q-R deals roughly 70-85% of a 1500 HP target's bar in 1.5 seconds.
Profane Hydra completion (~ minute 11-13): Camp clears speed up by ~25% and you can full-clear without a recall. This is the moment to start invading the enemy jungle's deep camps to deny gold.
Edge of Night online (~ minute 16-18): Picks across the map become reliable. The spell shield eats a key CC ability that would otherwise interrupt your gank, and your R-wall stun chain finishes the kill before the enemy team can rotate.
Common mistakes
- Attempting first clear without a leash. Qiyana's first three camps drain her HP hard if you start solo. Always ask your top or bot laner to help you start the first camp: two or three of their basic attacks on Krugs or Gromp save you a large chunk of HP.
- Ganking without checking the lane terrain. If the gank spot has no brush, no water, and no wall within 1100 units, your Q has no enchant — your damage and stun drop by a third, and the gank likely fails. Pre-load W in the side brush before approaching.
- Smiting late on objectives. Bel'Veth and Graves win Smite races; nothing in her kit lets her damage an objective from range. Smite Drake and Baron at 50% HP; do not wait for the killing blow.
- Counter-jungling solo against Lee Sin or Graves. Their early game beats yours in a 1v1; only invade with a laner visible on the map who can collapse with you.
- Wasting Audacity to escape. E has no defensive component — it dashes you into the target. If you need to retreat, save W for the brush stealth or burn
Edge of Night active instead.
Advanced tip
Practice the Supreme Display of Talent flash setup: stand near a wall a hair too short to be useful for stun length, then R in the direction the target is fleeing, then Flash mid-cast to reposition the shockwave's origin. Done correctly, the detonation now triggers against a different (longer) wall, turning a bare knockback into the full 1.5-second stun. It is a high-skill execution but it is the single biggest difference between Qiyana jungles you can outplay and Qiyana jungles that decide the game in one R.
