Core Abilities

Feline Friendship
Damaging a champion charges a heal stack. Once stacked, Yuumi heals herself and the next ally she Attaches to. Attached, she builds a Bond with that ally and enhances her abilities on her Best Friend.
Prowling Projectile
Prowling Projectile
Linear missile that damages and slows the first enemy hit. After 1.35s travel it deals bonus damage and a stronger slow. While Attached, you can steer the missile with your cursor for a short window.
You and Me!
You and Me!
Dash to a target ally and Attach to them. Attached, Yuumi is untargetable except by turrets and follows the ally's movement. Hard CC on Yuumi forces her off and locks W on cooldown.
Zoomies
Zoomies
Self-cast: shield, Move Speed, and Attack Speed. Attached: hands the buff to the ally instead, also restores some of their missing mana. Spam this on cooldown — main shield and lane sustain tool.
Final Chapter
Final Chapter
Channel five magical waves that heal allies hit and damage plus slow enemies hit. Slow ramps with each wave on the same target. While Attached to your Best Friend, the waves follow your cursor.

Why these runes

Sorcery primary: Aery rides every E heal and Q hit, doubling the value of each cast. Manaflow Band fuels constant E spam, Transcendence adds 5 ability haste at level 5 and 5 more at level 8 so E and R come back faster, Scorch turns each Q hit into chip damage at low HP.

Why secondary

Resolve secondary: Font of Life heals you and your lowest-health nearby ally every time Q slows an enemy; Revitalize gives 5% heal and shield power, and 10% more on targets below 40% health.

When to switch secondary

Into hook-heavy lanes (Blitzcrank, Thresh, Pyke), swap Resolve to Inspiration with Biscuit Delivery (early sustain so a poke trade doesn't snowball) and Cosmic Insight (lower Flash cooldown — your only escape if you get knocked off your Best Friend pre-6).

Win Condition

Pick a basic-attack AD carry as Best Friend and stay Attached the whole fight. E them on cooldown for shields, mana, and Attack Speed; R the moment two enemies stack on top of them.

Weakness

Detached Yuumi is one of the squishiest champions in the game. Any hard CC (stun, root, knock-up) on her while she steps off the carry deletes her in 1-2s, and W goes on forced cooldown so she cannot re-attach.

Overview

Yuumi is an enchanter support whose entire identity is one verb: attach — jump onto an ally with You and Me! (W) and ride them through the fight while healing, buffing, and poking from inside their model. Feline Friendship charges a small heal each time you damage a champion, refunded to you and the next ally you attach. Prowling Projectile (Q) is a slow missile that gains bonus damage and a stronger slow after 1.35s of travel — and that you can steer with your cursor while attached. You and Me! (W) is the dash that attaches you to an ally; attached, Yuumi is untargetable by everything except turrets. Zoomies (E) is your main sustain tool: self-cast it shields you, but cast attached it shields the ally, gives Move Speed and Attack Speed, and refunds part of their missing mana. Final Chapter (R) is a five-wave channel that heals allies and damages plus slows enemies — and steers with your cursor while on your Best Friend.

Game plan: pick a basic-attack AD carry as Best Friend at champion select, lock onto them at level 2, and do not detach unless forced. Spam E on cooldown, throw Q as poke through their model, save R for the moment two enemies stack on the carry. You almost never engage — your job is to refuse to let the carry die so they scale into a 1v9.

Recommended Build

Starting items: World Atlas World Atlas (the support starter that quests into more gold and ward charges) plus 2 Health Potions. Skip damage starters: Yuumi does not snowball off lane kills (translate "snowball" as "build a growing lead from one early kill"), she scales off team-fight utility on her Best Friend.

Core items (in order):

  1. World Atlas World Atlas — completes into Bounty of Worlds, then a support legendary. Stacks gold and ward charges automatically while you stay Attached.
  2. Ionian Boots of Lucidity Ionian Boots of Lucidity — Ability Haste lets you spam E and refresh R sooner; default boot for enchanters.
  3. Moonstone Renewer Moonstone Renewer — Starlit Grace chains every heal or shield you cast onto a second ally, for 35% of the shield. Pair with constant E spam and two allies soak damage for the price of one.
  4. Ardent Censer Ardent Censer — every shield gives you and that ally bonus on-hit damage and Attack Speed. Best item in the game next to a basic-attack AD carry like Caitlyn or Jhin.
  5. Mikael's Blessing Mikael's Blessing — cleanses hard CC (stuns, roots, charms — the ones you cannot move through) off an ally. Mandatory if the enemy has a single-target lockdown on the carry (Morgana Q, Ahri charm).

Situational items:

  • Staff of Flowing Water Staff of Flowing Water — into AP carries who scale with Ability Haste (Hwei, AP Ezreal). Every shield gives you both 40 Ability Power and 15 Ability Haste for 6 seconds.
  • Redemption Redemption — when fights drag long (Drake, Baron, extended teamfights). Big delayed area-of-effect heal you drop from across the map without detaching.
  • Locket of the Iron Solari Locket of the Iron Solari — vs heavy area-of-effect burst (damage on the whole team in 1-2s, like Yone R or Kennen R). Active gives an instant team-wide shield.
  • Morellonomicon Morellonomicon — vs healing-stacking comps (Soraka, Vladimir, Aatrox). Your Q applies Grievous Wounds (a debuff that cuts the target's healing and health regeneration by 40% for 3 seconds) plus a small Ability Power boost.

Boots: Ionian Boots of Lucidity Ionian Boots of Lucidity is the default. Boots of Swiftness can replace them into a comp with heavy slows the AD carry needs to walk out of (Ashe R, Jhin W, Lillia chase).

Skill order: Max E first (the shield scales hard per level — main sustain tool), Q second (more damage and a longer slow on Best Friend), W last (W has no cooldown of its own; extra ranks only add on-hit healing and Heal and Shield Power on your Best Friend). Take R at levels 6, 11, 16. Start E at level 1 to heal the first poke trade, then W at level 2 to lock onto the carry and become untargetable.

Runes: Primary Sorcery with Summon Aery (sticks small damage and shield value to your spells), Manaflow Band, Transcendence (5 Ability Haste at level 5 and 5 more at level 8), Scorch. Secondary Resolve with Font of Life (slow a target with Q → you and your lowest-health nearby ally heal) and Revitalize (5% heal and shield power, and 10% more on targets below 40% health). Stat shards: Ability Haste, Adaptive Force, Health Scaling.

Pick into / Counterpicks

Draft-level matchups: when this pick shines and which champions are picked against it. Mechanical reasoning, not winrate.

Champions Yuumi beats

  • Immobile basic-attack AD carry

Zoomies E hands attack speed and move speed to the Attached ally, and Ardent Censer scales the shield buff into bonus on-hit damage. Jhin's Whisper passive crit autos plus the fourth-shot execute scale linearly with Yuumi's empowered on-hit buff every fight.

    Jhin
  • Immobile basic-attack AD carry

Zoomies E hands attack speed and move speed to the Attached ally, and Ardent Censer scales the shield buff into bonus on-hit damage. Ashe's Ranger's Focus Q ranged autos plus Frost Shot passive slow stack with Yuumi's empowered on-hit for sustained kite damage.

    Ashe
  • Immobile basic-attack AD carry

Zoomies E hands attack speed and move speed to the Attached ally, and Ardent Censer scales the shield buff into bonus on-hit damage. Senna's Absolution passive soul stacks reward extended fights, exactly the kind Yuumi enables by keeping her healthy from inside her model.

    Senna
  • Late-game hyper-scaling AD carry

Yuumi is the safest peel in the game for a scaler. While Attached she is untargetable, so she cannot be picked off during laning while Kog'Maw farms 25+ minutes. Bio-Arcane Barrage W percent-HP shred scales with the on-hit buff from Zoomies E perfectly.

    Kog Maw

Champions that beat Yuumi

  • Long-range hook support

Rocket Grab Q hits the AD carry, not Yuumi — and once the carry is dead, Attached Yuumi auto-detaches and dies one Q later. You and Me! W cannot save the partner from a hook landed from fog of war, and Power Fist E knock-up chains the kill setup.

    Blitzcrank
  • Long-range hook support

Death Sentence Q hits the AD carry, not Yuumi — and once the carry is dead, Attached Yuumi auto-detaches and dies one cooldown later. You and Me! W cannot save the partner from a hook landed from fog of war, and Flay E knock-back chains the followup.

    Thresh
  • Long-range hook support

Bone Skewer Q hits the AD carry, not Yuumi — and once the carry is dead, Attached Yuumi auto-detaches and dies one cooldown later. You and Me! cannot save the partner from a hook landed from fog of war, and Death From Below R execute resets on assist for snowball chains.

    Pyke
  • Long-range hook support

Dredge Line Q hits the AD carry, not Yuumi — and once the carry is dead, Attached Yuumi auto-detaches and dies one cooldown later. You and Me! cannot save the partner from a hook landed from fog of war, and Depth Charge R chain knock-up locks the kill setup.

    Nautilus
  • Long-range mage support

Charged Arcanopulse Q reaches 1450 units, so Xerath pokes from outside any range Yuumi can answer. Yuumi can shield each hit but cannot trade back, and Prowling Projectile Q is too slow to threaten Xerath sitting behind the wave. Pure HP attrition wins the lane.

    Xerath

Key matchups

  • Blitzcrank / Thresh / Pyke: Hook supports. Stand behind minions whenever you cross the river — even Attached, if the carry gets hooked, you auto-detach onto them and both die together. Build Mikael's Blessing Mikael's Blessing earlier than usual to cleanse the hook stun off the carry the moment it lands.
  • Leona / Alistar / Rell: Hard engage supports with knock-up CC. Their combo includes a point-blank knock-up that drags both of you off Best Friend and locks W on cooldown. Save R for the second they commit — the slow on hit interrupts their follow-up and the heal pulls the carry back.
  • Xerath / Brand: Long-range mage supports out of your E range. Hug the wave, do not detach, let your jungler hard-side the lane (camp your side of the river). Earlier Locket of the Iron Solari Locket of the Iron Solari soaks the chip poke (small repeated damage that wears HP without a full commit).
  • Lulu / Janna: Mirror enchanters. You out-scale Lulu on a basic-attack carry because every E hands her Attack Speed; you out-sustain Janna because R keeps healing while her ult only disengages once (disengage = an ability that breaks an enemy engage attempt). Stay Attached longer than they do and Ardent Censer wins the fight.
  • Caitlyn / Jhin (with you on Best Friend): Favorable when paired with an immobile high-range carry. Your Q poke off their model lets them last-hit safely; once they hit two items, you are in their pocket farming a 1v9 setup.

Power spikes & win conditions

  • Level 2: With E at 1 and W at 2, you Attach to the AD carry for the first time. The lane becomes "shielded ranged carry vs. exposed enemy bot lane". Even a Leona has trouble engaging once you are untargetable on the carry.
  • Level 6: First Final Chapter unlocks. Any 2v2 fight is now winnable — the channel heals through their burst and the slow on hit prevents follow-up dashes.
  • Moonstone Renewer Moonstone Renewer + Ardent Censer (~ minute 16-20): Team-fight spike (the moment a champion gains a sudden power boost). Moonstone chains every E onto a second ally; Ardent's on-hit gives the AD carry a noticeable DPS jump.
  • Three legendaries online (~ minute 25): With Mikael's Blessing Mikael's Blessing added you have two cleanses — Mikael's on cast and R's sustain through the CC. Every objective fight is now a 5v4 if the enemy commits hard CC into your back line.

Common mistakes

  • Detaching to throw Q for poke. Yuumi loses 100% of her safety the second she steps off Best Friend. Every detached cast is a window where a hook or charm deletes you in 1-2s. Throw Q through the carry's model while Attached — the missile still fires from your position inside them.
  • W on the wrong ally. You and Me! has a forced cooldown when you take hard CC. If you Attach to a Lee Sin mid-dive (going under tower to kill a carry despite the turret), you eat the next stun together and lose W for 5 seconds. Default to the AD carry; only swap to a tank if the carry is dead and you are running.
  • Burning R early for poke damage. R is your team's best disengage and AOE peel (peel = protect an ally from whoever is attacking them). Every time you channel it for chip on a wave, you leave your team without a panic button for 100+ seconds.
  • Standing still detached when the carry has died. Once the carry is dead, sprint backward immediately — do not try to Attach to a tank in melee range of three enemies. You will die before the channel finishes.
  • Forgetting to Best Friend the right ally pre-game. Yuumi builds a Bond with whichever ally she attaches to most; her Bond ally gets enhanced versions of every ability (steerable Q, free on-hit healing). Start Attaching to the AD carry from level 2, not your jungler.

Advanced tip

Practice the R cursor-steer rotation on your Best Friend. Cast Final Chapter the second two or more enemies stack on the carry, then drag your cursor across the enemy team so the five waves splash multiple targets in sequence. The slow on hit stacks per wave — at five waves on the same enemy, it is enough to keep an Akali or Yone glued in place while your AD carry kites them backwards (kite = move backward while attacking, holding distance). The steer only works while Attached to your Bond ally: detach mid-channel by mistake and the waves lock straight ahead. Keep W off cooldown so a forced detach doesn't kill your R mid-cast.
