Core Abilities

Guerrilla Warfare
Stand still without acting and Teemo turns Invisible indefinitely (he can keep moving inside brush). On break he gains Attack Speed for a few seconds — fuels brush ambushes from the bot lane bushes.
Blinding Dart
Blinding Dart
680-range targeted dart that deals magic damage and Blinds the target. While blinded the enemy misses every auto-attack — disables enemy ADC entirely for the duration.
Move Quick
Move Quick
Passive Movement Speed that drops when you take champion or turret damage, plus an active sprint that ignores damage breaks. Lane mobility plus rotation tool toward mid.
Toxic Shot
Toxic Shot
Passive on-hit: every basic attack deals bonus magic damage on impact plus a damage-over-time poison for 4 seconds. Lets you contribute damage even without items.
Noxious Trap
Noxious Trap
Throws an invisible poisonous mushroom on the ground. Enemy step triggers a slow plus damage over time. Doubles as map vision — the support's job.

Why these runes

Sorcery primary: Summon Aery rides on every Toxic Shot auto, adding free poke. Manaflow Band sustains the Q-poke mana cost, Transcendence pushes Ability Haste so Blinding Dart's 7-second cooldown comes back sooner, Scorch finishes low-HP enemies in early lane.

Why secondary

Inspiration secondary: Biscuit Delivery gives 3 HP + mana biscuits that cover the harass phase against engage supports. Cosmic Insight cuts Flash and item active cooldowns — Flash off cooldown faster matters more for Teemo support than any other rune.

When to switch secondary

vs hard-engage bot lanes (Leona, Nautilus, Pyke + Caitlyn) swap Inspiration to Resolve with Bone Plating (reduces the next three incoming hits) + Revitalize (boosts your ADC's shields and heals). Trades poke power for survivability against the first all-in.

Win Condition

Disable the enemy ADC with Blinding Dart at every all-in window, stack Toxic Shot poison alongside your ADC, and seed Noxious Trap vision around dragon and tri-bush for free map control.

Weakness

No engage, no peel, no heal — if the enemy commits hard CC (Leona, Pyke hook, Thresh hook) before Blinding Dart lands, you die and the lane goes 1v2. Loses scaling to enchanter supports.

Overview

Teemo support is a poke-and-zoning lane bully (a champion that wins by harassing the enemy out of farm instead of going for kills) who weaponises Blinding Dart (Q) to disable the enemy ADC's auto-attacks at every trade, and Noxious Trap (R) for free vision (sight on the map your team can see) on bot side. He pairs best with marksman ADCs who appreciate a poke partner (Caitlyn, Tristana, Varus) — Teemo's Q-poke plus Toxic Shot on-hit damage stacks alongside the ADC's basic-attack pressure to chunk the enemy below half HP before any engage attempt.

His game plan in lane is to maintain auto-poke from the brush angle: hide in lane brush with Guerrilla Warfare invisibility, walk out only to land Q on the enemy ADC, retreat before their support can collapse. Mid-game, after minute 14, his role pivots — he stops poking and starts seeding mushrooms (Noxious Trap) on dragon pit choke, tri-bush, and river entrance. Each mushroom is a vision ward plus a slow-tick poison trap (each step poisons for several seconds), so by minute 22 the enemy team is forced to walk through enemy fog of war without sweeper or eat free damage on every objective rotation.

Recommended Build

Starting items: World Atlas World Atlas + Stealth Ward Stealth Ward + Health Potion Health Potion. World Atlas auto-upgrades on gold thresholds, not on a clock: it becomes Runic Compass once it has generated 400 gold, then Bounty of Worlds after another 800 — at which point you pick Bloodsong for the offensive Spellblade path.

Core items (in order):

  1. Bloodsong Bloodsong — Bounty of Worlds offensive support upgrade. Gives 200 health, gold per 10 seconds, and Spellblade: after any ability, your next attack deals bonus physical damage and leaves the champion taking increased damage for 4 seconds. Stacks perfectly with Toxic Shot poison and the Blinding Dart cast cycle.
  2. Sorcerer's Shoes Sorcerer's Shoes — flat magic penetration (cuts the enemy's Magic Resist) makes Q poke punch through early items like Doran's Shield or Null-Magic Mantle.
  3. Stormsurge Stormsurge — 90 AP, 15 magic penetration and 6% move speed, plus Stormraider: take a champion for 25% of their maximum health inside 2.5 seconds and Squall detonates on them 2 seconds later. Your Q + auto combo from the brush is exactly the burst that arms it.
  4. Liandry's Torment Liandry's Torment — percent-HP burn damage. Turns Toxic Shot poison and mushroom ticks into percent-max-HP damage, the best anti-tank scaling Teemo support gets.
  5. Zhonya's Hourglass Zhonya's Hourglass — Armor plus AP plus the Stasis active (makes you untargetable for 2.5 seconds). Saves you from any dive on your position — Pyke R execute, Zed R combo, assassin all-in — wait for them to commit, press Stasis, the enemy combo wastes itself.

Situational items:

  • Morellonomicon Morellonomicon — vs healing-stacking enemies (Aatrox, Yasuo with lifesteal, ADC with Bloodthirster). Grievous Wounds (a debuff that cuts the target's healing and health regeneration by 40% for 3 seconds) is mandatory; otherwise your poison ticks just feed the enemy's sustain.
  • Abyssal Mask Abyssal Mask — vs heavy AP threats (Brand, Zyra, Vel'Koz support). Magic Resist plus an aura that raises enemy magic damage taken by 12% around you — your AP teammates deal more damage too.
  • Locket of the Iron Solari Locket of the Iron Solari — vs hard-engage bot lanes (Leona, Nautilus, Pyke). Armor, Magic Resist and Ability Haste plus an AOE team-shield active that blocks the enemy carry's burst rotation the moment they commit on your ADC.
  • Redemption Redemption — with low-sustain ADCs (Aphelios, Caitlyn). Heal-on-zone active (paint a heal circle on the ground that triggers after a delay) closes the HP gap pre-fight without requiring your engage.

Boots: Sorcerer's Shoes Sorcerer's Shoes is default for poke-build magic penetration. Swap to Mercury's Treads Mercury's Treads vs heavy crowd control teams (3+ stuns or knockups) when survival outweighs damage, or Plated Steelcaps Plated Steelcaps vs auto-attack heavy lanes (Draven + Pantheon, Caitlyn + Senna).

Skill order: Max Q first (Blinding Dart is your only crowd control and your only ADC-disable), E second (more Toxic Shot poison damage per auto), W last. Take a point in R at levels 6, 11, 16. E at level 2 is non-negotiable: Toxic Shot is what makes every brush-poke auto deal real damage instead of base AD whiff.

Runes: Primary Sorcery with Summon Aery, Manaflow Band, Transcendence, Scorch. Secondary Inspiration with Biscuit Delivery and Cosmic Insight. Stat shards: Adaptive Force / Adaptive Force / Health Scaling.

Pick into / Counterpicks

Draft-level matchups: when this pick shines and which champions are picked against it. Mechanical reasoning, not winrate.

Champions Teemo beats

  • Auto-attack reliant ADC without dash mid-trade

Yasuo's whole trade pattern runs through basic attacks and the Steel Tempest Q auto-empowers, and Blinding Dart Q switches them off mid-trade. Wind Wall W does block Teemo's ranged attacks, so poke from an angle the wall does not cover and let Toxic Shot E tick.

    Yasuo
  • Auto-attack reliant ADC without dash mid-trade

Tristana's Rapid Fire Q attack speed steroid is worthless without autos landing, and Draw a Bead only stretches her range as she levels. Blinding Dart Q kills the steroid window, Toxic Shot E poison stacks on Rocket Jump W landing.

    Tristana
  • Auto-attack reliant ADC without dash mid-trade

Samira's Flair Q ranged auto and her Daredevil Impulse passive both build style stacks via landed auto-attacks. Blinding Dart Q kills her style stack chain, Blade Whirl W spell-block cannot eat the blind debuff.

    Samira
  • Enchanter support without hard CC or engage

Yuumi has no hard CC and her You and Me! W attached state leaves her with no displacement to threaten Teemo's brush positioning. Prowling Projectile Q poke is easy to sidestep with Move Quick W, and the Zoomies E shield cannot outpace Toxic Shot E poison ticks.

    Yuumi
  • Enchanter support without hard CC or engage

Lulu's Whimsy W polymorph is short-range and her Wild Growth R knock-up needs an ally target Teemo can poke from brush. Glitterlance Q reaches 925 against Blinding Dart Q's 680, so poke from brush instead of the open; Help, Pix! E shield breaks on Toxic Shot E poison ticks.

    Lulu

Champions that beat Teemo

  • Long-range hard-CC engage support

Leona's Zenith Blade E at 875 range out-distances Blinding Dart Q's 680 range, and her Solar Flare R stun lands before any Q response can fire off. Shield of Daybreak Q point-click stun chains on landing, Eclipse W damage reduction blunts Toxic Shot E poison ticks.

    Leona
  • Long-range hard-CC engage support

Nautilus's Dredge Line Q hook at 1150 range crashes into Teemo before Blinding Dart Q's cast time finishes. Staggering Blow passive on the landing auto roots him in place, Riptide E AOE slow chip kills his Move Quick W kite escape.

    Nautilus
  • Long-range hook support

Thresh's Death Sentence Q hook at 1075 range out-ranges Blinding Dart Q's 680 cast, pulling Teemo into turret zone where Move Quick W passive is disabled by damage. Flay E knock chains on landing, Damnation soul stacks scale his auto-attacks past Teemo's MR.

    Thresh
  • Long-range hook support

Blitzcrank's Rocket Grab Q hook at 1079 range out-ranges Blinding Dart Q and Power Fist E knock-up follow-up stuns Teemo for the kill chain. Mana Barrier passive shield eats Toxic Shot E poison ticks, Overdrive W speed steroid catches him mid Move Quick W.

    Blitzcrank
  • Dive support with point-and-click stun

Pyke's Phantom Undertow E is a return-stun dash that ignores Blinding Dart Q (not an auto), and Death From Below R is point-and-click execute on low-HP Teemo below the threshold.

    Pyke

Key matchups

  • Leona: Her Zenith Blade (E) dashes 875 range — further than your Blinding Dart at 680. The instant she walks into a brush, ward it; never let her be invisible to you. Save Q for the moment she lands E so you blind the empowered auto that triggers her passive Sunlight stacks.
  • Soraka: Free lane. Q the ADC every cooldown, poke Soraka in between with autos from brush — her Starcall (Q) misses easily, and her Astral Infusion (W) heal cost her own HP. Out-poke her until she has no mana, then commit a level-6 all-in with your ADC.
  • Pyke: Hardest matchup. His Phantom Undertow (E) stun-return ignores Blinding Dart (not an auto), and his Death from Below (R) is point-and-click execute on low-HP Teemo. Hug your tower, never face-check, and Zhonya's Hourglass Zhonya's Hourglass is mandatory by minute 22.
  • Brand: Respect his level-3 spike (Sear Q stuns any target that is already ablaze from Blaze). Stay in brush so his Pillar of Flame (W) has no target to predict. Poke him with Q on cooldown — your magic-penetration build at minute 14 punches through his early Negatron Cloak harder than his poke comes back.
  • Lulu: Her Whimsy (W) polymorph counters your all-in commit window. Don't trade when her W is up — wait out the 18-second cooldown, then Q + AA the ADC. Her Help, Pix! (E) shield on the ADC is single-target only — if you Q the ADC while shielded, the blind still lands.

Power spikes & win conditions

  • Level 2: With Q + E you have everything for a poke trade — auto-Q-auto in brush, retreat before the enemy support collapses. Most engage supports cannot answer level 2 without burning Flash on you.
  • Level 6 (Bloodsong Bloodsong upgrade approaching): Noxious Trap unlocks. Seed two mushrooms in tri-bush and one on river entrance — the enemy jungler can no longer gank bot lane without sweeper-clearing first.
  • Bloodsong Bloodsong completion (~ minute 14): Damage spike plus the second support item upgrade. Your post-ability attack now leaves the enemy taking increased damage for 4 seconds, stacking with Q + Toxic Shot on every poke window.
  • Liandry's Torment Liandry's Torment online (~ minute 22-25): Anti-tank spike. Mushrooms now carry the Liandry's burn, so even a Sion or Cho'Gath walking into a tri-bush mushroom loses a real chunk of health instead of a flat scratch. Force Baron or Drake fights here.

Common mistakes

  • Standing in lane during a 2-versus-2 commit. Teemo has 615 base HP and no defensive tool at all. A single Pyke E-Q chain deletes you before your Q lands. Always poke from inside brush; never stand in open lane during a fight.
  • Wasting Blinding Dart on the support. Q the ADC, not the support — disabling their carry's autos turns the 2-versus-2 into a 2-versus-1 for the trade. The only exception: blind a Pyke or Pantheon pre-engage to cancel their empowered auto.
  • Placing mushrooms in your bush, not enemy chokepoints. Mushrooms in your own brush only catch sweeper or rotation enemies. Mushrooms in tri-bush, river entry, and dragon pit choke create map control and vision — they are the support's most cost-efficient ward.
  • Roaming with low Move Quick passive. Move Quick's passive Movement Speed disables for 5 seconds whenever you take champion or turret damage. Trying to roam mid right after a 2v2 trade means walking at base speed — wait 5 seconds for the passive to refresh, then rotate.
  • Q-poking through your minion wave. Blinding Dart is a targeted ability with a precise 680 range — minions block nothing, but if you walk forward to land Q you eat the entire enemy ADC return-auto rotation. Always Q from inside brush at max range, never push yourself in.

Advanced tip

Master the brush-fade Q-poke for free trade windows. Walk into the lane brush, stand still for 1.5 seconds (Guerrilla Warfare triggers), then walk out toward the enemy ADC: the enemy support loses tracking on you for half a second while you fade back to visible. In that window, press Q on the ADC — the targeted dart still lands (point-and-click ignores stealth fog), but the support cannot pre-react with a shield or stun because the trade started from invisibility. Every Q out of brush-fade is a free 80-150 damage tick on the enemy ADC with no return cost, and by minute 8-10 you have stacked 600-1200 free damage on the carry before either side has spent Flash.
